What is the maximum amount I can buy Prepaid Electricity for?

Most of the municipalities and service providers have a maximum purchase amount,we suggest buying for maximum of R1000 at a time. If you need eg. R2000 then do 2 payments for R1000
If you happen to make a payment above the municipal maximum you will receive multiple tokens via sms to add up to the value of your payment. Make sure to check all received tokens, or check you last purchases here.

What if I have multiple prepaid electricity meters?

Buying your pre-paid electricity is still quick and easy for all your meters.
Simply Register your primary meter either via the register page or SMS . Then add your other meters to your profile by SMSing "ADD meterno" to 32904 e.g. "ADD 0123456789" for each of your meters.
When making a purchase use the cellphone number you registered with as a reference when purchasing for your primary meter. When purchasing for your other meter/s use the meterno as your reference.

Are there any hidden costs?

No, you'll get the exact amount of electricity units for the amount that you transfered, only the sms's are charged at Standard VAS rates. The amount of electricity units received is calculated in accordance with your current municipal tariff rates.

How do I receive my token after making a payment??

Once a payment reflects in our bank account your token will be generated and sent directly to you via SMS.
This process relies on the municipality creating your token and can take up to 10 minutes.

Standard Bank to Standard Bank payments may take up to 24hrs to reflect and Standard bank to another bank may take up to 3 business days.
Payments made from a Mastercard account may take up to 24hrs to reflect.

Reasons for not receiving Token from ?

Your accont might be in arrears
System might respond with consumer / meter blocked
Municipality might be down at the time token is being requested
There could be a delay from the bank with notification of payment
The reference used might be incorrect or no reference provided

Prepaid Meter Installation?

Unfortunately does not install prepaid electricity meters, should you require a prepaid meter installed please contact your municipality. Meter installations may only be done through your municipality and by a qualified technician from the municipality.
Please contact the prepaid department at your municipality for further assistance. The costs  (meter and installation) depends on the municipality and may vary.
